hi, i´m a successful RAK wannabe from Austria since Dez. 2011. In 2006 i had a skiing accident and a rupture of the cruciate ligament. On the same day i had an operation to fix it. But, for my fortunately, i caught an infection. For the next 5 years i was on constant pain and taking heavy pain killers.

The doctors tryed everything but mid 2011 they told me, that they can do nothing and i´v to live with the pain killers the rest of my life. At this point i said to them, that they should amputated my leg. It was a fight till Nov. 2011 when i found a doctor who said yes. For him, amputation was the best option.

My leg was always swollen, i had a bad open wound in my hollow of the knee and i no use my leg.

It was like heaven for me as he said he would do the amputation. The OP date was the 14.12.2011. I went to the hospital on 13.12. First the anesthetist came to talk about the surgery and that he will make epidural anesthesia. As i heard that my hope was, that maybe i could witness the amputation. But he said, that he

would give me some sleeping medicine. Next the surgeon came and talked about the amputation. He drew a line about 10cm above my knee where he will cut my leg of the next day. At this time i was the luckiest guy.

On the next day i was brought to the OR. They gave me the epidural anesthesia and 10 minutes late my body from the hips down was paralyzed. The next thing i remembered was as i was waking up at the observation ward. I raised the blanket and saw my new stump. I was in hospital for 8 days. 14 days later i was on my way to

a rehabilitation center. There i got my prosthesis, a c-leg, and learned to walk with it. I stayed there for 5 weeks and than i was discharged.

All that was like i´v ever dreamed of. I´v never thought that i´v done the wrong thing. Live is different like it was with two legs, but I do now almost the same things i do with two legs.

But for my it is not the end. I´v ever dreamed of being an DAK amputee and so i´v been looking forward to get my left leg amputated.

If anybody here can help me, it would be great. Feel free to ask me questions. My e-mail is 30031977ak@gmail.com

Greetings

Chri
